As part of your treatment for hypoglycemia and controlling the symptoms of hypoglycemia, one of the first steps is to start getting fit and establish a good exercise regime. If overweight, you will definitely have to work at losing those excess pounds.

Do you make plans to exercise and then never follow through?

Do you always take the easy way to get somewhere?

Do you wish you were more fit?

Achieving your fitness goals is easier than you might expect so don’t make excuses and get going as soon as possible.

If you have a busy lifestyle, make exercise fit into your schedule instead of blocking time for practicing fitness.
Why not make fitness a family activity if you do not have enough time to spend with your relatives. For instance, turn exercises into games you can play with your children. They will love having time with you and you will be establishing a good, healthy routine for them at an early age.

When trying to get physically fit, cardiovascular exercise should be a part of your fitness routine. Any type of movement that gets your heart beating faster (fast walking, running, riding a bike or swimming) will help to burn calories and start reducing any unwanted extra weight. Cardiovascular exercise will ensure your body remains healthy and strong.

Just a couple of tips to help you on your way:

Before starting your workout, always remember to warm up, as this will prepare your muscles for physical activity.
Spend five minutes performing a low intensity version of your main workout, and incorporate stretching exercises.
This will increase your body temperature, and increase blood flow to your muscles, making them much more flexible.

If you have overdone it and are experiencing post-workout fatigue, avoid taking painkillers like ibuprofen and acetaminophen. While these drugs do well for problems like inflammation, they are not very effective after a workout. In fact, some experts warn that using these drugs can actually hinder muscle development. Rather stick to a hot shower and a good stretch to ease your soreness!

Once you get going and start exercising you will realize that getting fit is not as difficult or painful as you may have thought. You will probably find, as so many have, that as you work out and get fit, you will feel your health improve and actually start enjoying it!

I find that if, for some unavoidable reason or other, I haven’t done my daily exercise routine I really yearn to get going.

Marsha N. Woolery is a registered dietitian/nutritionist in private practice and adjunct lecturer at Northern Caribbean University; She has done an interesting article ‘Eve’s Nutrition’ on nutrition for motherhood which I thought all you younger women may like to read. A lot of the information she gives should also be taken into consideration when on a hypoglycemia diet.

I do question her suggestion to eating small bones. She writes “the bones in small fish such as mackerel and sardines are needed for the strengthening of bones and teeth” This is something I think very few people in the Western World would consider but perhaps there would be some thing more palatable to eatto give you the same nutrition value.

There is some unusual information so why not take a quick read.

The health of your body has a direct impact on the health of your memory. The brain is an organ just like your heart or lungs.

Activities that improve your physical well being will ensure that it functions at the highest level possible. It is essential that your brain gets the correct nutrition and energy supply. This is particularly relevant if you suffer with low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and have started on your hypolgycemia treatment. Take care of yourself, rest, eat the correct hypoglycemia diet and ensure that you get exercising.

Memory can be defined as simply a person’s ability to store, retain and recall information such as personal experiences. Of course, memory may be easy to understand but it’s not exactly easy to remember everything. Some people have trouble with memory, and the tips in this article below can help you remember.

You may think that you are far too young to even have to consider taking this information on board but absorbing this information at an early age will ensure that you will be able to call on it when it is needed.

Here are some tips improve your memory:

Focus on Something : Try to focus your attention on something by removing anything that can distract you from the task at hand. When you spend time to focus, the item of focus moves from short-term memory to long-term memory. Distraction adversely affects focus, and that results in poor memory.

Close your eyes. Your brain spends a lot of energy on processing what you are seeing. If you have difficulty remembering something, try closing your eyes. Your brain will have an easier time finding the information. It will also make it easier for you to picture said information in your head.

Use Mnemonics: One way to improve memory is to employ mnemonics. For example, when musicians learn the treble clef they learn “every good boy deserves fudge.” This simplifies the learning of the notes on the lines of the treble clef without overly burdening the memory. Simple mnemonic device makes learning new things much easier.

Memorisation Techniques: When you need to remember new information, relate it to what you already know. If you use proper memorization techniques, you should have what you already know memorized under a certain structure. Add the new information within the same structure if you can, or add new categories to your organization.

Here are some memory Loss tips for the more mature:

To aviod age-related memory loss, you should keep your mind active. A fun, easy way to do this is the daily crossword puzzle in the newspaper. To benefit the most, try to complete puzzles which are challenging for you. If the clues are too easy, you will not exercise your brain as much.

Interact with people on a regular basis. Studies have shown that being active and social can keep stress and depression at bay. These factors are known to contribute to memory loss. The effect can worsen if you happen to live alone. Go out and mingle with people to combat memory loss.

If you are concerned about memory loss, organize your home and your life. You will not be able to remember information and events if things are messy and disorganized. Make to-do lists and use a planner. It is also crucial to keep important items, like your keys and checkbook, in the same place.

Forgetting some things is natural whether you are young or old. There is no possible way to retain every piece of information and recall it on demand. However, following the tips in this article will help you to become much more adept at remembering and retaining information you have learned.

These helpful tips will only enhance your life as you get a control of your hypoglycemia symptoms and your health improves, so take the time to try them out.

This exert from a really good article on Flaxseed “Eggs” make me want to share it with you as the ingredients are excellent for Hypoglycemia Dieting.

“Egg prices soared 9.5 percent last year and will go up more in 2012, says the USDA. Should that put a crimp in your baking? No! Mix up a flaxseed “egg” in less than a minute. An organic flaxseed egg costs about 9 cents, or $1.08 a dozen. You’d pay more than three times as much for dozen large organic chicken eggs and about 70 percent more to get eggs from chickens raised in factory farms.

Not only that, whole flaxseed stays fresh for years at room temperature. Ground flaxseed keeps for months in the refrigerator or, better yet, the freezer. Keeping flaxseed in the house means never having to put off baking because you’re out of eggs.”

One of the cool things I found is that these healthy versions of eggs recipes are actually cheaper and and will help you save money while eating healthy.

But when these signs and symptoms are ignored, the hypoglycemia might get worse and possibly develop into a more serious disease like Diabetes. Here are some of the signs of hypoglycemia you should be aware of:

1. Hunger Pangs

When the sugar count in your blood is low, your body will digest faster to squeeze the glucose from the foods available from your gastrin. When you feel hungry even though you had meal fairly recently, it actually means you need more sugar.

2. Perspiring Excessively

Perspiration can occur during sleep or when awake. It occurs because your body is trying so hard to get the energy needed. It will also lead to an upsurge of pulse rate and blood pressure.

3. Dizziness

When you have low blood sugar levels, your blood vessels will adjust accordigly. As a result, the amount of blood flowing to your brain will decrease. This will result in a lack of oxygen to your brain. When your hypoglycemia becomes worse, you will find it is hard to think or focus properly on anything.

4. Fatigue

Mostly, fatigue is caused by either lack of sleep, or your body is tired. But if you had enough sleep and had not overworked your body, yet you still feel tired, then you must be suffering from hypoglycemia symptoms. This constant fatigue is caused by oxygen deficiency to your brain as a result it cannot function properly. Fatigue is the similar result as dizziness or vertigo. When your hypoglycemia becomes worse, you could probably start trembling and pale, maybe even faint.

5. Weakness

When you feel like you have no energy, or can’t even walk straight, it is probably because you are suffering from hypoglycemia symptoms. This is because glucose works as fuel to your body and without sufficient fuel, your body inevitably cannot carry on its normal every-day functions properly.

6. Metal Confusion

Confusion is another result from oxygen deficiency to the brain, along with dizziness and sleepiness. When it gets worse, you probably will experience a temporary amnesia.

7. Blackouts

You do not need to worry too much about blacking out as this would only occur in a severe case of hypoglycemia. A person who is suffering from hypoglycemia will first experience the more simple signs of hypoglycemia mentioned above.

It is important to acknowledge and understand hypoglycemia signs and symptoms if you want get your life back on an even keel. Learn as much as you can about the problem and start making the necessary lifestyle changes as soon as possible. Don’t bury your head in the sand and hope it will disappear. The longer you delay taking action the more serious it will become.

I have become more and more concerned about the amount of food being flown all over the world and was really pleased to find out that there are definitely benefits to eat locally grown and in the right season. The nutrients that you need to handle local weather, parasites and overall environment are best found in foods that naturally grow in that area, especially if they are eaten at the time they naturally ripen. This is known as bioregional farming.

A good example of this would be apples. These are grown in the north eastern quarter of the United States, a part of the country that has the coldest winter. The apples ripen in the autumn just before winter. This also rings true in Northern Europe and the UK. Apples contain sugars, which raise the triglyceride lever, which in turn raises the insulating fat level and thickens the blood. In the winter we are inclined to shiver, which stimulates the release of triglycerides to keep warm. Therefore, apples are best suited to people who live in the climate where the apples grow. If apples are eaten by those living in a warm, sunny area of the country it can cause weight gain problems because of the raising of the triglyceride level.

With tropical fruits such as guavas and papayas, they grow in an area where there is a problem with parasites. This is because the temperatures never fall below freezing. These tropical fruits have a high level of enzymes which help to kill the parasites lurking in your body.

It would therefore, be sensible try and include as much locally grown fruits, grains and vegetables in your diet if you are trying to overcome the symptoms of hypoglycemia.

This really opened my eyes to the fact that although some of us were so active in our youth we often took our health and fitness for granted and negelected to change our lifestyle as we matured. This article really brings it home and is something we should read and act on.

Here’s a snippet of the post.

“But as life changes, we have to continue to grow. We can’t live on endless days of Haagen Daaz and 3 hours of sleep anymore. Our bodies start to to say “knock it off” by manifesting injuries, illness, anxiety, depression, and weight gain.

The longer I’m on the planet, the more I sense that worrying about aging is a waste of time and energy. We can’t stop time. But we can make the most of what we have.”

For the full article click here.
